Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.
Einstein sums up the role of a man quite well, rather than being defined by success, be defined by value. What exactly does that mean? When we turn to the scriptures, it becomes clear how God would like the character of a man to be.
Being pure of heart is high on the list. Trying your best to free yourself from the temptations of the world. The world offers up temptations on a platter for men, from provocative shows, the emphasis put on career advancement and status- doing whatever it takes to get there. Being defined by accomplishments, and being “self made”. Temptations rear their ugly heads everywhere, the key is in recognizing them and trying to avoid them. Remaining humble, giving God the credit for the bleeding you receive, knowing that everything good comes from Him. Pray for strength and guidance. No one is perfect, we all slip into temptation at times, however, the key is in seeking forgiveness and trying to do better.
A Godly man also values the written word. He seeks it first, always turning to scripture and prayer in times of question. Daily seeking Gods word and applying it to his life. Living a life of integrity and honesty everyday. A Godly man chooses his words carefully. He is slow to speak and prays for words of encouragement. He aspires to tell the truth in love rather than anger. He works hard, and values the opportunity to do so. Taking the easy way out is not an option. Working through trials builds character, the character God wants you to have. He is molding you into the person he wants you to become. So often we seek a “quick fix” rather than sitting with our situations prayerfully seeking God and His will.
Seeking truth above all else creates a man of value.
