If my dog can figure out the importance of morning quiet time, shouldn’t I?
It sounds so simple…take the first part of your day and reserve it for some quiet time. Sit still and listen. Somehow, in the hustle and bustle it’s easy to get lost in the daily grind of life. The to-do lists are mounted high, peering their impatient eyes at us expectantly. From the moment we wake up our phones are dinging, swooshing, beeping, and ringing- seemingly impossible to ignore. Blink and it’s noon, blink again and it’s time for bed, and quiet time has yet to be scratched off the to-do list.
It boils down to putting quiet time high on the priority list- seeing the value in it. Quiet time with God first thing in the morning shows God His importance to us. It allows us to give him our first- our best selves. We are called to put God first in our lives and that starts with building our relationship with Him, getting to know Him and learning to hear his gentle, guiding words. Learning to differentiate between our voice and His. This takes practice and perserverence. But the value in this is priceless. It makes us stronger and more able to handle the imperfect world in which we live- it makes us our best selves. What could be more important than that?
